Hugh was born about 1537 in Shropshire, England, the son of Richard ap_Eignion and Alice Syer.
His wife was Katherine Blays, who he married in ABT 1558. The place has not been found. Their four known children were John (c1560-?), Roger (c1562-?), Katherine (c1564-?) and Margaret (c1566-?).
