He had three marriages/partners. His first wife was UNKNOWN, who he married in ABT 1575. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Sythe (c1575-?), Joane (c1576-?) and Mary (c1576-?).

His second wife was Ann W Weller, who he married on 18 APR 1578 in Bishop's Cleeve, Gloucestershire, England. Their two known children were Ann (c1579-?) and Anthony (1581-?).

His third wife was Jane Wynton, who he married on 11 NOV 1582 in St Peter, Bromyard, Herefordshire, England. Their two known children were Isatt (c1593-?) and Owen (1596-?).

Anthony Hawkins was baptized 1 Nov 1550 in Knowstone, Devon, son of John Hawkins. Only Sir Admiral John Hawkins bears that name in Devonshire at the time when he was only 18, well before naval distinction and decades before his better-known son appears in the record. This timing, combined with Anthony’s inland baptism and 1578 marriage in Gloucestershire suggests he may have been raised outside the Plymouth orbit—perhaps by his mother’s family while his father was off at sea. As the first son of the second son of the main Devon Haekins line, he would have been well off, but his father wouldn’t have yet been as well established and he likely wouldn’t have learned as much about life on the sea. When he was ready to strike off on his own, he thus would have been less likely to choose the sea. A short ride up the Bristol Channel and the River Severn would take him to Redmarley and Bishop’s Cleeve in Gloucester and later Hereford where he made his life.
