Chico ~ Cynthia Sherman Goynes, 70, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, in Decatur.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport, with burial to follow at Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

John Williams will officiate. Pallbearers are Bill Nelson, Chris Levaya, Chan Horne, Cory Green, Tony Padilla, Kenny Green, Rodney Dunn, and Jason Williams. Honorary pallbearer is Randy Gerst.

Cynthia was born on August 6, 1954, in Emporia, Kansas, to Marvin Lee and Doris Jean Sherman. She was united in marriage to Francis Robert Goynes, Jr. on October 28, 1972 in Osage City, Kansas. Over the years, Cynthia dedicated her working life as a substitute teacher, a sewing factory worker, and home health caregiver, inspiring many with her dedication and warmth. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Chico and the Woodmen of the World, Cynthia's faith was a cornerstone of her life and guided her in all her endeavors.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marvin and Doris Sherman, and her devoted husband, Francis Robert Goynes, Jr.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, William Kenneth Goynes and Robert Michael Goynes, both of Chico; her adored granddaughters, Danielle Renee Goynes and Natalie Marie Goynes; her sister, Tanya Fraker and husband Dennis of Scranton, Kansas; her brother, Randall Sherman and wife Pam of Osage City, Kansas; her sister-in-law, Roxie Goynes of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
