His wife was Keziah Matilda Cunningham, who he married in 1873 in Pennsylvania, United States. Their nine known children were Martha Emma (1873-1923), Howard H. (1876-1882), Laura Marick (1878-1930), Lyla A. (1880-1882), Frederick C (1881-1882), Clara E. (1883-1959), Ernest Leroy (1885-1942), Susanna Kezia (1887-1961) and Scott Wallace (1889-1963).
