!Notes: Shropshire Hearth Tax list of 1672 lists "Mary Hotchkis, widow" as a pauper in Wenlocke, Shropshire. At the same time there are two other Widow Hotchkis's listed in Wenlocke, "Widdow Hodgkis", of Dytton Priors (entry torn), and "Widdow Ho dgkis", of Hugley (2 hearths).
!Notes: Parish record from Much Wenlock, Aug 1646, reads:
!P:Thomas the Son of Thomas Hoactkis and Mary Grayette his wife was babtized this 16th day of August1646....
!P: The wife's name was hard to make out in the old text. This is the only source for her maiden name. It may have been Grayette or Davies.
!P: A summary of marriages from Shropshire shows a marriage of Mary Hotchkis to Thomas Davies on 1 May 1621, which may be related. This should be checked in the parish records.
