Fitzgerald (1886-1974), They had two children, Clara H. and John Edward. - After the death of his parents, Edward c ontinued the operation and eventually purchased the family farm. He lived all of his life on the family farm. He received a Certificate of Farm War Service from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, for raising crops that were distributed for food d uring the war time. - In September of 1972, he also received a Centennial Family Farm Award, from the director of Agriculture of Illinois. ( 1868-1968) 100 years of the farm being in the same family. - The home was always home to many relatives an d friends, and entertained many at neighborhood gatherings. Edward and Clara were charter members of the former Oak Grove Grange. Grange Members were entertained regularly at their home. - Over the many years, many improvements were made by Edward , and in 1960, 20 acres adjacent to the homestead was added. - The Kennedy farm was one of the first in Winnebago to have rural electrification in the 1920s. - After Edward and Clara M. retired and continued to live on the farm, John E. (1918-1979 ), continued the operation of the family farm.
