!BIOGRAPHY: James bought 90 + (plus) acres, south of the family homestead, and lived there following his marriage to Alice Pendergast Dec. 31, 1912. In 1916, he and Alice and son, James, (2/14/14), bought and moved into a home on Indiana Avenue, a nd they lived in Rockford all of there lives. They had nine children: James Andrew, Margaret Mary, David, Robert Joseph, Baby Girl, Patricia Louise, Maurice, and George. He sold the 90 + acre farm after World War II. - Rockford Morning Star Wednes day, Jan. 16, 1952 Obituary Services for James Kennedy, 77 of 1017 N. Church St., who died at 11:50 A.M. Tuesday in St. Anthony Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 7, will be held at 9 A.M. Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic church. - B urial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight in the family residence, where friends may call. Arrangements were completed in the Burpee-Wood funeral home, 20 N. Main St. - Mr. Kennedy had been an employee o f the Rockford township highway department for more than 50 years when he retired a year ago. - The son of James and Hannah O Connell Kennedy, early Rockford settlers. Mr. Kennedy was born on a farm south of Rockford. He married the former Alice P endergast Dec. 31, 1912, in Rockford. - He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic parish, the Holy Name society, the Catholic Mens club of Rockford, and Modern Woodmen of America, camp No. 49. - Surviving, in addition to his widow, are four sons, Ja mes A. (Rock Island), Robert, (Rockford), Maurice (Midland, Texas) and George, a student of Illinois; and two daughters Margaret Mary (Springfield) and Patricia (Rockford).
