!Obituary: - April 19, 1952 Rockford Newspaper Obituary: - Thomas Jefferson Kennedy 85, 618 Maple St. Rockford Illinois, died at 12:30 P.M. Friday, April 18, 1952 in his home after a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1867 at 5804 Prairie Road, R ockford Illinois, the son of James and Hannah Kimbell Kennedy. Pioneer settlers in this community. - He married the former Margaret O'Connor in Rockford April 20, 1897. Like all of the Kennedy's Thomas was engaged in farming in the area. The fami ly rented farms in Cherry Valley, Shirland, and on North Rockton Avenue, Safford Road, Rockford, and the Murphy Farm which is now Calvary Cemetery. - They had four children, Murray, Sarah Lucile, Mary Elizabeth and Raymond. - The farm on North Roc kton Avenue was located across the road from Wesley Willows, and the Safford Road farm is site of Winnebago Home for the Aged, now HIghview. - When retirement age arrived in 1937 Thomas and Margaret moved into Rockford to the Maple St. address. H e was a member of St Mary's Catholic church.
