Lloyd "Grandpa" Bleidissel Scranton - Lloyd H "Grandpa" Bleidissel, 90, Scranton, died Thurs., May 26, 2005, at his home. - He was born Oct. 2, 1914, at Holton, the son of Herman Lewis and Ethel Viola Raboul Bleidissel. He grew up in Holton and attended the Holton schools. - Mr. Bleidissel was a warehouseman for Del Monte Foods at Topeka, and retired in 1977. He manufactured nitroglycerine for the Hercules Powder Co. at Bessemer, Ala., and later worked at the Sunflower Ordinance Plant in DeSotot during World War II. - He served on the Scranton City Council and Scranton School Board for several years, and was a past Osage County treasurer of the Democratic party. He was a member of the Scranton United Methodist Church. - He was a member of Carbondale Lodge AF&AM. He was a member and past worthy patron of the Carbondale Chapter of the OES. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Arab Shrine Temple and the DeMolay Knights Unit of the Temple in Topeka. He was a member of Trinity White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 7 in Topeka. - He married Lora Mae Nash. She preceded him in death. He married Lois Maxine Brackman on Aug. 16, 1952, at Bentonville, Ark. She died March 4, 2001. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ron Bleidissel; two daughters, Darlene Langdon and Louise Murren; and a grandson, David Murren. - Survivors include two step-sons, Don Magnuson, Manhattan, and Jerry Magnuson, Lawrence; two sisters, Thelma McGuire, Topeka, and Rose Curtis, Holton; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-granchildren; nieces and nephews; and a special friend Anita Beasley. - Graveside services were May 31 in Scranton Cemetery. - Memorial contributions may be made to the Arab Shrine Transportation Fund, and sent in care of Carey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 196, Burlingam, Kansas, 66413.
